Based on some recent comments on this blog about shortened Mondays, I thought parents might find it interesting to understand the broader picture of what teachers do when they’re not teaching in class.

On Tuesday March 23rd, our grade 8 badminton team played in their first tournament of the season. They had a very strong start, finishing with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses. The team will be hosting the 2nd tournament this coming Thursday April 1st at St. Andrew’s.
Our grade 7 badminton team will begin their 1st tournament this Wednesday March 31st at St. Andrew’s.

St. Andrew’s participated in their first beach volleyball tournament last Thursday. They finished off the tournament playing in the consolation semi-finals. It was a fun day for all those involved.
Intramurals will begin next Monday and Wednesday after school in the gym. This will be a drop-in format, with all equipment supplied. All students are welcome!
Grade 7 & 8 track and field tryouts/practices will begin this week on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 7:30am.
Grade 9 tryouts/practices are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30am.

Thursday, March 25th

Did you know that March is Nutrition Month? So, in keeping with the spirit of nutrition, the HALE Committee and Parent Council will provide a nutritious free snack during first break on Thursday, March 25th! The snack will be nut free and we hope to have a great turnout, so come on down to the lobby to check it out during morning break!
Delicious prepared gourmet cookie dough is great to have in the fridge or freezer for the next time you have unexpected guests or just crave a little treat! Simply pop them in the oven and enjoy!
They are available in five delicious nut-free flavours. Information and order forms will be sent home on Thursday, just in time for you to get orders from your friends and family over Passover and Easter!
It’s almost the middle of March already…how time flies. It has been a tremendous ending to the second term and beginning to the third term at St. Andrew’s. Both staff and students are highly motivated and eager to engage in a journey together for the remainder of the year.
I have thoroughly enjoyed becoming part of the St. Andrew’s community and appreciate all of the support that has been shown by students, staff and community members. St. Andrew’s is a very special school with unique programs, high expectations and opportunities for children unlike any other in the TDSB. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the teaching and learning at St. Andrew’s and am looking forward to continuing to build relationships next year. Read the rest of this entry »
