Outreach to Support Haiti

haiti.jpgStudents, parents and staff at St. Andrew’s have had a very busy week in their goal to support the people of Haiti. They have been working on a school-wide campaign to raise funds which will be donated to Haiti through the Canadian Red Cross. This is a wonderful way to engage our students, teach them compassion, and make them feel they are helping people who are in such desperate need

Our students have generated ideas, organized the campaign, created posters and announcements, worked at the spare change collection table during lunch hours, sold hot chocolate after school, and baked and sold baked goods during the lunch hours. They are very proud to say that they have raised approximately $740.00 this week alone.

Their efforts will continue next week. A major initiative next week that has provoked a lot of interest will take place on Wednesday, January 27th. This initiative is part of the National PJ’s For Haiti Relief Effort. PJ’s and Hat Day for Haiti Day is a day where students can wear their pyjamas and/or hat at school for the day when they contribute $1.00.

A very big thank you to Ms. Zouravlioff (delicious baked goods), and to Jesaves, Tovah, Eric, Maddie, Sarah, Mme. Baltayan, Mme. Assaad, and Ms. Greenspoon for their work this week
